With 9 years experience as an exhibiting Artist and 7 years experience as an educator, working in dedicated and non-dedicated learning environments, Jamie specialises in experimental and pinhole Photography, also using mail art, sound and Installation in his socially engaged practice.

University for the Creative Arts, Maidstone – Workshop Leader and Technician in the FE photography department. I conducted lessons on contemporary photographers and artists, taught alternative processes from liquid light to toning techniques, instructed students in the use of digital and analogue SLR cameras, computer programmes, tape/slide machines, and medium and large format cameras (for BA students). I also managed the black and white darkroom and photography stores, and daily answered technical and theoretical questions. (Sept 2004 – 2008)
Ashborough house nursing home-I worked as a care assistant, helping people with frontal lobe dementia. Which involved undertaking personal care and verbal reassurance and communicating with family and friends also managers and care home owners and nurses.(2009)
Freelance Artist- Exhibiting internationally, publishing my work in Journals and books. I worked with artist led groups, set up peer mentoring groups and taught art and Photography workshops. In addition to this I applied and secured funding for my practice. (2008-Ongoing)
Aim Higher – Taught seven art-specialist school teachers from Kent for a two-day workshop. I wrote the brief entitled “Instant Imaging” covering photomontage, photograms and cyanotype printing. I led participants in investigating these old techniques and contextualising them within contemporary photographic practice. (June 2007)
Making It – A West Kent Arts Partnership initiative funded by local authorities and Arts Council England. (Sept 2006- 07)
I taught a series of weekly experimental workshops to adults with no art-related background in four towns withinWest Kent. I covered macro photography, using microscopes to take photographs, underwater photography, pinhole photography, photograms, and cyanotypes. I also taught portfolio presentation, framing and mounting skills. InMaidstone, these workshops culminated in me selecting work and curating an exhibition for the students atMaidstoneMuseum.
Widening Participation – Teaching children from schools ages 15-17 photographic skills ranging from pinhole photography to liquid light as a taster day workshop. (Oct 2007)
Rochester School of Mathematics I taught the theory and practice of pinhole photography to students aged 11-18 on a Gifted and Talented programme for two days.(Jun 2007)

Paul Dixon Photography – Photographic Assistant. I took responsibility for setting up flash and tungsten lighting on location and in the studio. I used a variety of digital large and medium format cameras, processed the final image and manipulated it in Photoshop. The work I assisted with varied from catalogue shots to landscape gardens. Clifton Pro-Lab – I played a major role in the daily running of a professional processing laboratory where my duties included colour and black and white processing and black and white and R-type prints to exhibition standards. I also copied flat artwork and performed slide duplication. (2000-2001)

I co-organise experimental creative events called Lab Nights which showcase the work of emerging and established artists and performers, and provide creative activities and resources for audiences. www.labnights.com
I create electronic compositions on computer using electronic instruments alongside sounds I have recorded, noise generators I have constructed or adapted and found sound. I have performed my compositions live and have gained some radio play.

2007 -The River Medway, Light Wave – A floating light sculpture. I created an immersive light environment installed under the millennium bridge on the river Medway, inMaidstone,Kent, as part of the river festival. I received a cultural grant to fund it, and as part of this project I ran workshops with local primary school children, where they made light-based sculptures and learned basic photographic skills
